Stewardship

In 1962, when Sumner Smith put the building up for sale, a group of concerned citizens formed a non-profit corporation to purchase and restore the Old Town Hall for the continued benefit of the town. Since then, the stewardship of the Old Town Hall has been entrusted to The Lincoln Old Town Hall Corporation, a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the preservation and management of the structure, landscape, and legacy of this very special mid-nineteenth century building.

The preservation of The Old Town Hall is entirely funded by the following three sources of revenue, not by tax dollars:

Fundraising

Donations to the Old Town Hall Corporation, which are fully tax-deductible, are a vital source of revenue needed to keep this beloved building in good shape, funding ongoing maintenance and larger capital projects. Please give generously, and include this piece of Lincoln’s history in your annual charitable giving.

Commercial Leases

Anchored on the ground floor by the US Post Office and a shop space that has over the years been host to General Stores and The Old Town Hall Exchange, the Old Town Hall is also home to a suite of light-filled offices on the second floor, overlooking conservation land and Lincoln’s historic district.

Each of the four offices share the upstairs landing and hallway, a conference room, a newly refurbished restroom, and separate, secure side entrance. Each has dedicated wifi, and all utilities and common area charges are included.

The Exchange

The Old Town Hall Exchange is a source for antique and vintage furniture, housewares and tabletop items. All items that make up The Exchange are donated or consigned by local individuals and organizations, with 70% of the retail price returned to consignors, and the remainder a source of revenue that is directed to building maintenance.
